Obituary of Ronald Rompre

Ronald J. Rompre, 52, of Waterbury, died peacefully Sunday, August 22, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital after a brief illness. Born June 26, 1958, Mr. Rompre was a life long resident of Waterbury. He graduated from St. Peter & Paul Grammar School and attended Crosby High School. Following high school, he served briefly in the United States Army. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, he returned to Waterbury where he remained a constant and loving companion to his parents, Earl Rompre, Sr. and Dorothy (Byron) Rompre. A "gentle giant", he will be best remembered by his family and friends for his integrity, loyalty, kindness, generosity and unquestioning willingness to share his few earthly possessions. Mr. Rompre was predeceased by his mother, Dorothy. He leaves behind his father, Earl, Sr., three brothers, Earl Rompre, Jr. (Ann Stockton) of Waterbury, George Rompre (Barbara DeCorso) of Prospect, and Mark Rompre (Christine Olivia) of Stratford; and his sister, Robin Rompre of Gainesville, FL. He also leaves a nephew, Justin Rompre of Stratford; three nieces, Dawn Rompre of Waterbury, Christine Leadstrom (Rompre) of Missouri, and Cherie Gaona (Rompre) of Kansas, as well as several great nieces and nephews. His funeral will be held on Thursday Aug. 26, 2010, at 9:45 am from the Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury, 9 Holmes Ave. and proceed to SS. Peter and Paul Church, 67 Southmayd Rd. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, 2324 East Main St., Waterbury. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday Aug. 25th from 5 to 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Hospital Foundation, 56 Franklin St. Waterbury, 06706-1238.
