Obituary of John Rock

CHESHIRE- John Francis Rock, 85, passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at Mid- State Medical Center in Meriden. He was the husband of Emma Rose (Becker) Rock whom he was married to for 64 years. John was born December 1, 1924 in Waterbury. He was the son of the late Frank D. and Sarah Ellen (Carey) Rock. John was a graduate of Crosby High School in Waterbury. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Following his service in the war, John was a Pressman Foreman for the Waterbury Republican American. John was an avid communicant of St. Bridget Church in Cheshire, and one of his favorite things to do was to spend time at his home in Bradenton, FL. Besides his wife John is survived by two sons Richard and his wife Marilyn Rock of Cheshire, and Kenneth and his wife Geralyn of Cheshire; three daughters Judy Collins of Cheshire, Sandy and her husband Mark Wagner of Cheshire, and Peggy and her husband John Baker of Cheshire; thirteen loving grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by a son Johnny Rock, and his son-in-law Harold Collins. Arrangements- John's funeral will be held Monday, September 20, 2010, 9 A.M from The Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main St., 06410 to St. Bridget Church, 175 Main Street, Cheshire, 06410 for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. Burial with full Military Honors will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery, Higgins Rd., Cheshire. Calling hours for John will be held Sunday, September 19, 2010 from 2 to 5 P.M at the funeral home.
