Obituary of Catherine Brown

WATERBURY; Mrs. Catherine L. "Kitty" (Taber) Brown, 93 of Waterbury passed away Wednesday October 13, 2010 at the Abbott Terrace Health Center. She was the widow of Barrett W. Brown. Mrs. Brown was born October 9, 1917 in Fairhaven, MA, a daughter of the late Jonathan and Irene (Pease) Taber and was a longtime Waterbury resident. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Naomi Chapter and the South Waterbury Seniors. Mrs. Brown was a member of South Congregational Church where she was actively involved in the Women's Association. She was a volunteer with the Girl Scouts and was an avid card player. She also enjoyed all the activities while residing at Abbott Terrace. She leaves her daughters, Catherine Pond of New Milford and Edith Nealeigh of Bakersfield, CA, two grandchildren, Gail Peck and Gary Pond, two great grandchildren, Brandon and Julia Peck and her niece Marjorie Horzepa and family. She was predeceased by her sisters, Frances Davis, Elizabeth Brown and Helen Taber. A memorial service in celebration of Mrs. Brown's life will be held Saturday October 23, 2010 at 2 p.m. at the South Congregational Church 160 Piedmont Street in Waterbury. Burial in All Saints Cemetery will be private. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the South Congregational Church 160 Piedmont Street Waterbury, CT 06706. The Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury 9 Holmes Avenue has care of arrangements.
