Obituary of Jane French

CHESHIRE- Jane H. French, 84, passed away Wednesday October 27, 2010 at Alzheimer's Rehabilitation Center in Plantsville. Jane was the wife of Russell C. French. Jane was born May 12, 1926 in Torrington daughter of the late Christian K. and Emma E. (Bray) Hoerle. Jane was a graduate of Wilson College in Chambersburg, PA where she received a Bachelors Degree in Philosophy, and then went on to receive her Masters Degree in Education from Southern Connecticut State University. Jane was a member of The First Congregational Church and attended services at Nelson Hall in Elim Park. She was a member of the Cheshire Art League, Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Archaeological Society of Connecticut. Throughout her life, Jane was an active volunteer and pursued many hobbies. Some of her diverse activities included quilting, knitting, reading, skiing, tennis, and a passion for archeology. She was also an accomplished artist with recent exhibitions of her paintings at Elim Park and Alzheimer's Resource Center. Besides her husband Jane is survived by her son Jeffery and his wife Peggy French of Morris; four daughters Sherry French of New York, NY, Connie French- Smith and her husband Jeffrey Smith of Bailey Island, ME, Michelle French Carroll of Cheshire, and Renee and her husband David Turley of Durham; a sister Virginia and her husband David Williams of Essex; twelve grandchildren; one great grandchild; and two nieces. Arrangements- A Memorial Service for Jane will be held Sunday October 31, 2010 at The Elim Park Baptist Home Nelson Hall, 140 Cook Hill Road, Cheshire, 06410 at 4 P.M. Burial will be held at Hillside Cemetery, 76 Walnut St, Torrington, 06790 at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Donations in Jane's name may be made to Alzheimer's Association, P.O Box 96011, Washington D.C, 20090.
