Obituary of Helen Clark
CHESHIRE - Helen Gaines Clark, 72, passed away Friday November 5, 2010 at Yale New Haven Hospital after a short illness.
Mrs. Clark was born April 15, 1938 in Elizabeth, NJ the daughter of the late Charles and Hazel (Deane) Gaines. She was a longtime Cheshire resident where she was an active volunteer in the community. She volunteered at the Cheshire Library, serving on the board of directors; for the Register of voters and at Norton Elementary School as a reading mentor. She was instrumental in the building and construction of the first nursery school in Cheshire. She was employed as an Executive Assistant to the President of Yale New Haven Hospital until her retirement in 1993.
Mrs. Clark is survived by her son Jeffrey and his wife Jacqueline of Middletown; her brother Charles B. Gaines of Newfield, NY; as well as two grandchildren Samuel and Benjamin; her nieces Rachel (Gaines) Richter and Bridget Gaines; and her nephews Michael and Paul Beck. She is predeceased by her sister Sara "Kay" Gaines Beck.
Arrangements - Funeral services will be held on Tuesday November 9, 2010 at 10 a.m. at the First Congregational Church, 111 Church Dr., Cheshire. Burial will follow in Cheshire Hillside Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S.
