Obituary of Isabelle Benoit
MERIDEN - Isabelle "Belle" Renardson Benoit, 89, formerly of Cheshire, passed away Tuesday evening December 21, 2010, at the Connecticut Baptist Home in Meriden. She was the wife of 65 years of the late Charles "Charlie" Arthur Benoit.
Mrs. Benoit was born May 22, 1921 in Springfield, MA the daughter of the late Raymond and Elsie (Hunt) Renardson. She was a graduate of Meriden High School and Laurel College in Meriden. Belle was retired from the Cheshire School System, where she worked for many years in the Cafeteria Department. She was a member of the Cheshire United Methodist Church for over 50 years and was active in the "Mr. and Mrs. Club", hosting social gatherings at her home for many years. She was also a long time member of the Communion Preparation Committee. Belle was an avid Red Sox fan always making for interesting sports talk with Charlie, an avid Yankees fan. She also loved hosting family birthday parties and picnics at her home.
Belle was a devoted wife, mother and loving Grandmother, leaving her family with many fond memories. She leaves her daughters Diane Deering and her husband David of Hollis, ME and Jean Burt and her husband Jim of Meriden; her son Douglas Benoit and his wife Lisa of Granby; seven grandchildren, Alison Burt of Meriden, Caroline Burt of Toluca Lake, CA, Elizabeth Deering of Old Orchard Beach, ME, Abigail Deering of Brooklyn, NY, Emily Crosby and her husband Carter of Pittsburg, PA, Katherine Benoit and Jack Benoit of Granby; several nieces and nephews; as well as a sister-in-law Edith Benoit of Meriden. She is predeceased by her sister Evelyn Vidal of Woodbridge.
The Benoit family offers their sincere and thankful appreciation to the 3rd floor staff of the Connecticut Baptist Home, 292 Thorpe Ave, Meriden for their kindness and wonderful care of Belle during her residency.
Arrangements - A graveside service will be held at Walnut Grove Cemetery, Meriden, at the convenience of the family. A Memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, CT Chapter, 2075 Silas Deane Highway, Suite 100, Rocky Hill, CT 06067. The Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire is assisting with arrangements.
