Obituary of Theodore Zdonczyk

CHESHIRE - Theodore Zdonczyk, 95, passed away Monday April 30, 2012 at Waterbury Hospital. He was the husband of Mary (Gesseck) Zdonczyk. Mr. Zdonczyk was born March 8, 1917 in Waterbury the son of the late Frank and Natalia (Majewski) Zdonczyk. He was a 1935 graduate of Leavenworth High School and had worked at Scovill Manufacturing until 1949 when he left to start his own business, Dell Amusement and Vending Machine Company with his brother Joseph, which he operated until his retirement in 1990. Living in Cheshire for over 35 years, he was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, where his parents were founding members. As an active member of the church, he belonged to the Ognisko Society. He was a longtime member of the American Music Operators Assocation and enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling as well as spending time at his home on Cape Cod. Besides his wife of 70 years, Mr. Zdonczyk is survived by his daughters Carolyn Z. Soltis and her husband Jerry of Cheshire, Bonnie LaVigna and her husband Fred of Cheshire and Allyn DeMaida and her husband Bill of Waterbury; his grandchildren Jay Soltis and his wife Lee Sterling of Fairfield, Allyson LaRock and her husband Scott of West Hartford, Ellyn Stoltz and her husband Chris of New Hartford, Will DeMaida and his wife Lisa Mincieli of Brewster, MA and Chris DeMaida of Waterbury; his great grandchildren Camille, Juliette, Quinn, Lilly, Jack and Cora. He is predeceased by his brothers Edward and Joseph. Arrangements - Funeral services will be held on Thursday 9 a.m. from the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire 615 S. Main St. to St. Stanislaus Church for Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
