Obituary of Robert Johmann
CHESHIRE - Robert Johmann, 87, passed away Sunday January 16, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital. He was the husband of Mary S. (Heath) Johmann.
Mr. Johmann was born May 11, 1923 in Queens, NY, the son of the late Emil O. and Louise M. (Young) Johmann. He was a WWII Veteran serving in the Army Air Force. Before moving to Cheshire in 1979, Mr. Johmann and his wife lived in Hicksville, Long Island where he was a member of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks. During his 39 years with Shell Oil Co., Mr. Johmann and his family also resided in Camillus, NY and Marlborough, MA. As a resident of Cheshire, he was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church where he spent much time volunteering. He was also an avid golfer and was known for his exceptional woodworking and craftsmanship.
Besides his wife of 64 years, Mr. Johmann is survived by his daughters Nancy Johmann of Stratford, Carol Johmann of Cheshire, Patricia Croteau and her husband Paul of Cheshire and Elizabeth Rieth and her husband John of Rochester, NY; his sister Dorothy Kramek and her husband Robert of Red Bank, NJ; his seven grandchildren Heather, Tiffany, Jessica, Courtney, Christine, David and Matthew.
Arrangements - A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held on Friday January 28, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Cheshire, 111 Church Dr. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church, 111 Church Dr. Cheshire, CT 06410. The Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St. is assisting with arrangements.
