Obituary of Jeanne Kane

NAUGATUCK- Mrs. Jeanne (Burke) Kane, 85, of Naugatuck, passed away Friday Feb. 4, 2011 following a long illness, at the River Glen Health Center in Southbury. She was the widow of Joseph R. Kane who passed away in 2008 after 63 years of marriage.. She was born in Waterbury, Connecticut on August 25, 1925 to Harris M. and Agnes (McCarthy) Burke and has been a lifelong resident of Naugatuck. She graduated from Naugatuck High School in 1944. After raising her four children, Jeanne was employed for many years at Thurston Frozen Foods in Wallingford, CT and spent over ten years prior to her retirement with G. Fox and Company, at the former Naugatuck Valley Mall as a department manager. Following her retirement, she and her husband split their time between their Naugatuck home and a winter home in Sarasota, FL. Jeanne, a communicant of Saint Francis of Assisi Church in Naugatuck,. She leaves her children, Barbara J. Kane of Melbourne, FL.; Joseph R. Kane, Jr. of Vero Beach, FL.; Brian G. Kane of Naugatuck, Ct., owner of B. Kane Electric; and Beverly Kane Sonnone of Orlando, FL.; She is also survived by her brother, Dr. William H Burke of Trumbull, CT; three grandsons; three granddaughters and seven great granddaughters, as well as several nieces and nephews. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday Feb. 8, 2011 at 10:30am from the Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. and proceed to St. Francis of Assisi Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Cross St., Naugatuck. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 9 am until the procession leaves for church. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make memorial contributions to the American Stroke Assoc., 1 Union St., Suite 301, Robbinsville, NJ 08691.
