Obituary of Alfred Roncarti

OAKVILLE; Mr. Alfred S. Roncarti, 82 of Oakville formerly of Waterbury, passed away Wednesday February 16, 2011 at the Alzheimer's Resource Center in Plantsville. Mr. Roncarti was born December 10, 1928 in Waterbury a son of the late Amedeo and Clementina Ida (Falavena) Roncarti and was a lifelong area resident. He was a graduate of Washington Grammar School and attended Leavenworth High School. He was employed as a stereotyper for several area newspapers including the Waterbury Republican/American, Meriden Record-Journal and the Post Publishing Company. He was a Korean War Veteran serving in Greenland and Germany, where he received the Army Occupation Medal. Mr. Roncarti was a member of the American Legion Post #195, Veteran of Foreign Wars Post #7330, the Academy of Model Aeronautics, the Alliance for Retired Americans and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge #265 of Waterbury. He also enjoyed fishing, bowling and model airplanes. He leaves his twin brother, Herbert H. Roncarti of Watertown and brothers, Robert Roncarti of Louisville, KY, Raymond Roncarti of Temple, TX, Ronald Roncarti of Southbury and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brothers James and Henry Roncarti. Funeral services for Mr. Roncarti will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from the Mulville Funeral Home 270 West Main Street to Our Lady of Lourdes Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday morning from 8:30 until the procession leaves for Mass.
