Obituary of Francis Accetura

CHESHIRE- Francis "Frank" J. Accetura, 81, passed away Saturday April 2, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury. He was the husband of Shirley M. (O'Neill) Accetura whom he was married to for 60 years. Frank was born October 29, 1929 in Waterbury; he was the son of the late Francis John and Justine Amelia (Valerio) Accetura. Frank served in the United States Navy between 1948 and 1952. He resided in Connecticut all of his life attending Webster Grammar School, Crosby High School, and the University of Connecticut. He was a professional fundraiser for the Catholic organization, and later retired from the Connecticut Bank Examiners Offices. He was a communicant of St. Bridget Church and was very active in his parish. He freely gave his time and efforts to his church, and was always there to support all of the people he came in contact with. Frank was an avid golfer, loved telling stories, and will be dearly missed by all that knew him. Besides his wife Frank is survived by three sons Steven Accetura of Cheshire, Greg and his wife Lori Accetura of Boyton Beach, FL, and Paul Accetura of Golden, CO; a brother Joseph and his wife Sonja Accetura of Bradenton, FL; a sister Barbara Accetura of Waterbury; two grandchildren McKala and John Accetura; and a daughter in law Suzanne and her husband Gary Kroeber. Frank was predeceased by his son Michael Accetura. Arrangements- Frank's funeral will be held Thursday April 7, 2011 9:15 A.M from the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main St, Cheshire to St. Bridget Church 175 Main Street, Cheshire, 06410 for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. Burial with full Military Honors follow in St. Bridget Cemetery, Higgins Rd, Cheshire. Calling hours will be held Wednesday April 6, 2011 from 5 to 8 P.M at the funeral home. Donations in Frank's name may be made to St. Bridget Church, 175 Main Street, Cheshire, 06410.
