Obituary of Francis Sheehy

Francis "Red" Joseph Sheehy, 83, of Centerville, MA passed away April 21, 2011 at Martin Memorial Medical Center in Stuart, FL. He was the husband of Harriet (Wilmot) Sheehy. Francis was born in Waterbury, CT on June 4, 1927, the son of the late Francis and Loretta (Barry) Sheehy. He attended Waterbury schools and the University of Connecticut. He was a WWII Navy Veteran. Upon his return from the war he was a Firefighter for the City of Waterbury, stationed at Engine 1. He began his insurance career as a claims adjuster and retired as a Senior Vice President of Lawyers Title Insurance Company overseeing the New England region. In his retirement, he consulted for Old Republic Title. Francis was an avid golfer and longtime member of the Avon country Club and the Andover Country Club in MA. In his retirement, he and his wife enjoyed many years at Miles Grant Country Club in Stuart, FL and his life on Cape Cod. His engaging personality, Irish wit, along with his gift of storytelling is what drew people to him. He was a dedicated manager and proud mentor to numerous professionals in their early careers. His kindred spirit will be truly missed by all those whose lives he touched. Besides his wife, Francis is survived by his children Beverly Canning, Steven Sheehy, Carol Carver, Coleen Lynch; his stepchildren Lisa Laanan, David Wells and Linda Stehle; as well as his 13 grandchildren. He is predeceased by his son Richard Sheehy. Arrangements - Funeral services will be held on Friday April 29, 2011, 9:30 from the Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury 9 Holmes Ave. to Blessed Sacrament Church for a Memorial Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will be held at a later date in New St. Josephs Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday morning from 8:30a.m. until the funeral procession leaves for church. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association 5 Brookside Dr., P.O.
