Dear Hal, Chris, Mike, and family- my deepest sympathies to you all at having to say goodbye to such a beautiful and lovely woman. One of my first memories is splashing in a little inflatable pool at Uncle Billy and Aunt Sis's house during our family picnic, while Joan sat nearby and talked with me. Her smile always made me feel safe and warm. As a young adult, I can't tell you how much it meant to me, to have your help and support while looking at medical schools and, of course, ultimately deciding to apply for a military scholarship. It changed the path of my life-for the better. As an adult, with kids of my own, we didn't get to see each other as much, but when we did, Joan's warm smile and manner always made it so easy to sit and talk with her that it felt as if we had only been apart for days. I'm hoping that your lifetime of warm memories will help comfort you during this time. Unfortunately, alzheimer's makes it feel like we are having to say good bye to our loved ones, little by little, during the precious few moments we have before they go on to other adventures. It makes a difficult part of life, so much harder. I hope that your love, faith, families and friends will help to comfort you during this time. My prayers and love to you all. Kim

Dear Hal, So sorry to read of your wife's passing. I know, from our many conversations, how much you cared, shared and loved each other even when Alzheimers took away much of Joan's mental capacity. It will be difficult to adjust to your loss but your faith, family and friends will surely carry you through this difficult time. Know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and I look forward to seeing you in the very near future. Sincerely, Bill Watson
