My sincere sympathy on the loss of your mother. As your childhood neighbor, your mother was an inspiration to me and a great influence on my mother. I count living next door to you as one of my blessings.

When I met Kay in the 1970's, women were still using their husband's credit cards and had no accounts in their own names. Kay was one of the leaders in fixing things like that, proving that smart, generous, persistent, funny, and delightful women can and everyday do change the world for the better. Missing her presence on the planet.

Kay was both a visionary and an activist on so many levels. She spoke truth to power and challenged the status quo, and in so doing, laid a solid foundation for the Permanent Commission on the Status of Women it its early, formative years. Kay became a mentor to me and many other women and was one of the most gracious people it has been my honor to know. Her passion for justice will be missed throughout Connecticut.

My sincere condolence on the passing of your mother. Mrs. Bergin was one of my teachers at the original Mattatuck Community College when it was started at Kennedy High School. She was a wonderful teacher and I was delighted when she awarded me a Secretarial Science book in recognition of my work at Mattatuck. I never forgot her encouragement My best regards, Victoria (Van Wart) Bouffard
