Obituary of Marguerite Hoffmann
CHESHIRE - Marguerite "Peggy" (Darcey) Hoffmann, 91, passed away Wednesday June 6, 2012 at Bradley Memorial Hospital in Southington. She was the wife of the late Gotfred O. Hoffmann.
Peggy was born March 3, 1921 in Waterbury, the daughter of the late James H. and Margaret (Whalen) Darcey. She attended local schools as well as Waterbury Catholic High School before attending Trinity College in Washington D.C. She was a life-long resident of Cheshire where she was a communicant of St. Bridget's Church. Over the years at St. Bridget's, she served on the Ladies Guild and as a Eucharistic Minister. She volunteered many hours for the American Cancer Society and at St. Mary's Hospital where she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary.
Peggy met her husband of 56 years on a blind date during WWII and married soon after. There love story was never-ending and they worked closely together in their business venture, Miniature Mansions of Cheshire, building custom miniature houses for collectors. They loved to travel and spent many vacations in Hawaii.
Peggy is survived by her son James G. Hoffmann and his wife Christine of Southbury; her daughters Ghiqui Hoffmann and Nicole E. Hoffmann, both of Vail, CO; and five grandchildren, James D. Hoffmann, Margaret E. Hoffmann, Carrie H. Cucchi, Christian H. Ewing and Emily E. Ewing. She was preceded in death by her husband Fred, in 2001, and her son Peter, in 1995.
Arrangements - A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday June 11, 2012, 10 a.m. at St. Bridget's Church, 175 Main St., Cheshire. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in St. Bridget's Cemetery and there are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society 659 Tower Ave., 1st Floor, Hartford, CT 06112 or to the American Cancer Society, 825 Brook St., I-91 Tech Ctr., Rocky Hill, CT 06067. The Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St., is assisting with arrangements.
