Obituary of Christopher J. Sheehan

PROSPECT - Christopher J. Sheehan, 64, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at VITAS at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury, Conn. Christopher was born August 22, 1950 in Southington, Conn., the son of the late Edward and Katherine (Vickers) Sheehan Sr. He had been a longtime resident of Cheshire, Conn. and a communicant of St. Bridget Church before moving to Middlebury. He graduated from Merrimack College and obtained graduate degrees from Wesleyan University, Trinity College and Sacred Heart University. Most recently, he worked at Sacred Heart University in the Communications Department as an Editor and a Writer. He was extremely generous and was actively involved in several charitable organizations. Two of his favorites were Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society, in which he was a past president of the Connecticut chapter. Chris was also quite proud of his gold level status of donating blood to the American Red Cross. Christopher is survived by his brothers Edward Jr. of Prospect, who he lived with and was his primary care giver, Thomas, James and his wife Lorraine, and David and his wife Sherrie Sheehan all of Cheshire. He is also survived by six nieces and nephews that he absolutely adored and was extremely proud of; Stephanie Sheehan and her husband Duane Samuel, and their two children Zoë and Lachlan, Katherine Ebersole and her husband Garrett, Robert Sheehan, James Sheehan Jr., Ryan Sheehan, and Jonathan Sheehan, as well as longtime and dear friend Pam Monahan of Naugatuck, Conn. Arrangements – A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 10 a.m. at St. Bridget Church, 175 Main St., Cheshire. Friends are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family and there are no calling hours. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 825 Brook St., Rocky Hill, CT 06067. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire is assisting with arrangements.
