Obituary of Ruth-Shirley Clark

Ruth-Shirley Clark, 93, a longtime resident of Middlebury passed away, Friday, September 12, 2014, at Middlebury Convalescence Home. She was born July 18, 1921 in Waterbury, daughter of the late Arthur Booth and Beatrice (Lindauer) Booth. Ruth graduated from Methodist hospital with a degree in Nursing and was a proud Veteran of World War II where she served as a First Lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps. She was an outstanding nurse devoting much of her long working career to the late Dr. Jamil Karsh and to the Middlebury Convalescent Home. Ruth was an active member of the Middlebury Congregational Church, the Veterans Association, the Middlebury Republican Party, the Middlebury Senior Center, and in her free time loved playing bridge while cheering on the Red Sox. She is survived by her two sons Oliver and his wife Sharon Clark of Cape Coral, FL, and Arthur and his wife Loretta Clark of Middlebury. She also had three daughters: Ruth-Shirley Matte and her husband Bill Grant of Ottawa, Canada; Charlotte Wiggin of Farmington; and Lois and her husband Bruce MacGregor of Pennsville, NJ. She was the loving grandmother of 10 wonderful grandchildren who cherished having her in their lives: Tracy Burksa, Amy Roy, Anthony Proiette, Patricia Sanchez, Simon Matte, Matthew Wiggin, Sarah Thomas, Lori Talbot, Lisa Mason, and Cameron MacGregor. She also had 9 Great Grandchildren. The family would like to express their gratitude for the loving care provided to Ruth at the Middlebury Convalescent Home. Arrangements- A Memorial Service for Ruth will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at The Middlebury Congregational Church, 1242 Whittemore Road, Middlebury, 06762. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Old Pine Grove Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2080 Silas Deane Hwy, Rocky Hill, CT 06067, or the American Heart Foundation, 5 Brookside Dr, Wallingford, CT 06492, or to a charity of your choice.
