I was a student at Chapman in the 1980's. Mr. Quilter was loved by students, even those like myself who were not in his class. His kickball games were legendary, and he kept "records" of which students had the most all-time home runs. He loved to talk about the Yankees, especially to those students who were Red Sox fans. As a first grader in Mrs. Crimmins' class, I was part of a reading group that had taken a special interest in the presidents of the United States. He invited us to come to his 4th grade class to compete in trivia against his students. Pat, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

My condolences to Mr. Quilter's family and all those who loved him. He was my teacher in fifth grade at Chapman School many years ago and the best teacher I ever had. And I had a lot of teachers -- in Cheshire schools, then in college and law school. Mr. Quilter made learning fun and active and gave me confidence in the classroom that I never really experienced again. I loved his flair for dressing and his hip style that, in fifth grade, I had frankly never seen before. He was truly one of a kind and will be missed.

Elaine and family-
I always enjoyed Pat's sense of humor and his being an easy conversationalist!
Thanks for providing Michelle a nurturing environment for her first year--- the caring helped to make her a strong, independent teacher and mother of two.
Warmly,
Beth and Don Proto

I lived next to Pat from 1992 to when he sold his house in Cheshire and I enjoyed having him as a neighbor. We would have conversations about may things. Whether it be sports, politics, religion or anything else, he always had an interesting take on things. Since he moved, I have missed these conversations.
I am incredibly blown away to read about the effect he had on his students lives. Peace to you Pat and to your family. You are missed

Condolences and prayers to the friends and family of Pat Quilter.
My recollections of Pat and of his Dad go back to the 1960's. They patiently taught me to play tennis at the Washington Park tennis courts. Both Pats were very competitive and they played a great game of tennis.
I've long lost contact with Pat, but I will never forget him.
A great man............and he's been that all his life.
Requiescat in Pace!

Very sorry for your loss. As a kid that truly hated school, I can say he was one of very few teachers that really touch my life. I still remember many of the things he taught us. He was unique and had a lot of passion for teaching. I only wish my daughters will get exposed to teachers of his caliber in their life.
