Obituary of Howard A. Rochon

WATERBURY- Howard “Doc” A. Rochon Jr., 93, passed away Saturday October 18, 2014 at Waterbury Hospital. He was the widow of Eleanore (Welton) Rochon. Howard was born September 19, 1921 in Waterbury son of the late Howard A. Sr. and Esther (Swenden) Rochon. Howard proudly served in the United States Army. He was a Toolmaker and Stewart for the Union at Century Brass prior to his retirement, a member of the U.A.W Local 1604# and the D.A.V (Disabled American Veterans), and a Jazz Enthusiast knowing all about “The Big Band Era”. He loved to dance with his wife and vacation in Milford at Silver and Cedar Beach. Also he was a Drummer, and occasionally got to play with his Dad’s Big Band. He is survived by two sons Howard A. Rochon III of Watertown, and Gordon J. Rochon of Bristol; three daughters Cynthia and her husband Fred D’Angelo of Oakville, Sandra Kelly of Waterbury, and Gail Dombroski of Waterbury; nine grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren. Doc was predeceased by a son Gary P. Rochon, his daughter Carol A. Flores, and a sister Barbara Kane, and his brother John Rochon. Arrangements- Doc’s funeral will be held 9:15 A.M Thursday October 23, 2014 from The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Waterbury, 9 Holmes Ave, 06710, and proceed to the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 74 West Main Street, Waterbury for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. Burial with full military honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday October 22, 2014 from 4 to 7 P.M at the funeral home.
