A year ago I found my 2nd Cousin, Jack. I live in New York and we had planned on meeting once but never could because of his health. We shared much info about our ancestors in Scotland. Someday, partially because of him, I hope to visit our heritage country. I will think of him when I'm there. He even send me some of his stories. Which I will cherish.

I met John -- Mr. Decaf -- while working at Dunkin Donuts on New Haven Road during high school. I never knew his real name but I saw the picture and knew right away. I can still picture him walking in to get his large decaf coffee (milk only if I remember correctly). Out of all the customers I met while working there, he is one of the few that stuck with me long after I left. I will always remember him for his kindness and wisdom. My condolences for your loss.

Those of us who work at the Naugatuck Historical Society send our sympathy and condolences to all of Jack's family. We will miss his frequent visits to the museum, his wonderful stories and his good humor. Jack shared his love of his family and his pride in his heritage with all of us. We are all richer for having known him.

I had the pleasure of knowing Jack for over 50 years. Writer, poet, humorist, proud Scotsman - he was all of these and much more.
Whether he was giving advice to a younger co worker at the Bristol Company, or musing about his beloved Cotton Hollow at the Coffee Shop years later, Jack was always a pleasure to be around.
My condolences to his family.
