Obituary of Helen Lamanno

NEWPORT NEWS, VA - Helen Lamanno, 88, passed away peacefully Monday, March 9th, 2015 at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Virginia. She was born May 22nd, 1926 in Fabrizia, Calabria, Italy, to the late Raffaele and Elisabetta (Cirillo) Mamone. Helen loved to bake, work in her yard and take long walks especially at Glen Island Park in New Rochelle, NY. She was a faithful communicant of Saint Catherine's Church in Pelham, NY and a devoted mother to Mary Lou Moseley of Newport News, VA and Elizabeth Lamanno of Great Barrington, MA. Helen is survived by her siblings Florence Mamone and Dominick Mamone of New Rochelle, NY and her sister and brother-in-law Elizabeth and David Urban of Pelham, NY. She leaves many loving nephews and nieces. Helen will be missed not only by her family but also by the many strangers whose day she brightened with her smile and encouraging words. Arrangements- A funeral service will be held for Helen on Saturday, March 14th, 2015 at 10:30AM at The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. Friends may call at the funeral home at 8:30AM until the time of service.
