Obituary of Doris Howard

WATERBURY- Doris Howard, 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday Aug. 29, 2015 at the Cheshire House, with her daughters by her side. She was the loving wife of the late Richard “Dick” Howard Sr. She was born January 23, 1925 in Leominster, MA, the daughter of the late Albert and Albina (Lamoureux) Friske. Doris graduated Burbank Hospital School of Nursing, Fitchburg, MA in 1946. She was a Registered Nurse for almost 50 years prior to her retirement and was a parishioner of St. Leo the Great Church. She always had a smile on her face. Her passions included gardening and bird watching. She treasured her family and all celebrations were captured with her Polaroid camera. She brought sunshine to everyone’s day and will be greatly missed. Mrs. Howard is survived by her two daughters, Jane Daly and her husband Jim, of Newington, and Liz Nowotenski of Meriden; her sister, Lorraine Gorgoglione of Leominster, MA; four grandchildren, Lisa Thomas and her husband John, Mike Miller, Karen Faulkner and her husband Monty, and Christopher Daly; six great grandchildren; one niece; and two nephews. She was predeceased by her son Richard Howard Jr. The Howard family would like to thank the Seasons Hospice Staff as well as the entire staff of Cheshire House, for their kindness shown to Doris during her time there. Arrangements- Family & friends are asked to meet directly at church: Calling hours will be held 9am-10am, Thursday, Sept 3,2015 at St. Leo the Great Church, 14 Bentwood Drive, Waterbury, CT 06705. A Mass of Christian Burial for Doris will be held 10 AM. Burial will follow in the State Veterans Cemetery, Bow Lane, Middletown, CT. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Waterbury, 9 Holmes Ave, is assisting with the arrangements.
