Ted green welcomed me to Taft in the fall of 1961 and remained a cherished colleague until his retirement in 1991. A distinguished teacher, Ted made Math come alive for his students. He was particularly gifted in coaching young women, building their confidence in Math, when Taft went Co-ed. He was also a fine Coach of Lower School Boys Soccer for over twenty years, invariable leading his teams to fine records and never experiencing a losing season.
Patsy and I took many ski trips with Ted in our early years as he was a graceful and determined skier and fine companion. Perhaps the most memorable was one to Sugarloaf, Maine with our colleague Barclay Johnson, Ted's nephew, and our two year old son Jake. It was there that Ted named Barclay "moguls" in response to his propensity to blast out of control through the mogul fields invariably winding up in a total wipeout. For a week we had perfect conditions and the Mountain virtually to our selves as a blizzard hit just as we arrived-a perfect memory!
We also shared trips to Boston for NCAA Hockey Tournaments and had the pleasure of staying with his family in Belmont, adjacent to the Belmont Hill School. We will miss Ted as a friend, colleague and one who quietly did so much for others. Lance Odden, Headmaster Emeritus, Taft School
