Obituary of Barbara Ann Edmonds
Beloved Mother and Grandmother
Barbara Ann (Pollard) Edmonds, age 88, formerly of Cheshire entered into rest on Monday, September 21, 2015 at the Alzheimer’s Resource Center of CT.in Plantsville. She was the devoted wife of the late Joseph T. Edmonds for over 38 years. Barbara was born on April 14, 1927 in Waterbury, daughter of the late James C. Pollard, Sr. and Anna (Flaherty) Pollard.
Barbara and Joseph raised their family in the Bucks Hill neighborhood of Waterbury. During those years, she was active in the life of that community – Bucks Hill School PTA, Cub Scouts, Bucks Hill Community Club, and St. Michael Church. When she and her family moved to Cheshire, she was a communicant of Church of the Epiphany and participated in many aspects of parish life.
Barbara worked as a proofreader in the composing rooms of the Waterbury Republican American and the Hildreth Press in Bristol. She was also a real estate broker with William Raveis Realtors and before her retirement she was employed with Patrick Baker and Sons of Southington.
Barbara was a skilled painter and had a great love for nature, literature, music and art. Her greatest joys were found in time she spent with her family and friends.
She is the beloved mother of Leslie E. Lamitola and her husband Raymond and David Edmonds and his wife Cathy, all of Waterbury, loving grandmother of Amy D’Ettore and her husband E.J., Michael Lamitola and his wife Leigh, Sarah Edmonds and Rachel Edmonds. She is also survived by her cherished great grandchildren, Ryan, Elizabeth, Cameron and Judson; sisters-in-law, Florence Pollard of NH and Helene Pollard of AL; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, James Jr. and John Pollard.
Friends and family are invited to meet directly at church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 10:30AM in the Church of the Epiphany, 1750 Huckins Road, Cheshire. Interment will follow in St. Bridget’s Cemetery, Higgins Road, Cheshire. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire has been entrusted with her arrangements. Barbara’s family would like to thank the staff of the Alzheimer’s Resource Center for their loving and compassionate care of our mother.
