Obituary of Patricia Laukaitis
MIDDLEBURY- Patricia (Checkovich) Laukaitis, 58, passed away peacefully after a very long battle with cancer with her family and loved ones by her side, Wednesday, September 30, 2015 in the VITAS Unit of St. Mary’s Hospital. She was the wife of Ronald Laukaitis.
Patricia was born June 10, 1957 in Norwalk, the daughter of June (Feilner) Checkovich and the late Andrew Checkovich. She was a longtime Norwalk area resident moving to the area of Middlebury in 1987. She worked as a CNA at Brookwood Manor for 10 years. She was a very kind person who loved to help people in time of need. In her younger years she cared for her two boys who were the world to her.
Besides her husband of 29 years, and mother, Patricia is survived by her sons Christopher and his wife Jessica DiMichele of Wolcott, and Andrew DiMichele of Middlebury; her step-daughter Joanne and her husband James Allaire of Wolcott; her step-son Ronald Laukaitis of Cheshire; her sisters Judy Conti of Wisconsin, Irene Checkovich and Diane Wodehouse of Massachusetts; her beloved grandchildren Juliana, Andrew, Alexandria, Giovanna, Shane; three step-grandchildren Jerry, Danielle, Raymond as well as several nieces and nephews who were all very special to her.
We would like to give a special thanks to our step-sister who took our mother in and cared for her at the time of need, and Darlene Gunther, and Kristin Williams who stayed by Patricia’s side during her illness. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital and the VITAS unit for the compassion and care they showed Patricia in her final days.
Arrangements – Funeral services for Patricia will be held 10 A.M, Monday October 5, 2015 at The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Waterbury, 9 Holmes Ave, 06710. Burial will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery, Higgins Road, Cheshire. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2015 from 3 to 5 P.M at the funeral home.
