Obituary of Linnea Behlman

NAUGATUCK - Linnea Edith (Ostrom) Behlman, 79, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on November 13, 2015. She was the beloved wife of her husband Robert Behlman, Sr. Mrs. Behlman was born January 5, 1936 in Naugatuck, the daughter of the late David and Dena (Christensen) Ostrom. Besides her husband of 60 years, Mrs. Behlman is survived by her son Robert "Bud" Behlman, Jr. and his wife JoAnn of Woodbury; her daughters Cindy Russo and her husband Tom of Cheshire, Jessica, Sara, Elizabeth, Laura, and Megan Seeger and her husband Greg. She also loved and is survived by her grandchildren John Russo and his wife Deanna, Tiffany, Lindsey, Caleb, Emily, Joshua, Ahdem, Camden and Austin; and great grandchildren, Anabelle and Angelo Russo, as well as, her sister, Phoebe Drown, and sisters-in-law, Joanne Cipriano and Patricia Bisson; and many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends. A lifelong Naugatuck resident, she was an active member of the United Methodist Church, serving in many capacities, including Lay Leader, District Lay Leader, and Handbell Choir. She was active in her community as a member of the Prospect Song Birds, Beacon Valley Grange and the Beacon Valley Quilters. Linnea was known for her tireless outreach to others, which included: VISTA, Thresholds Prison Ministry, DCF Foster Families, and Naugatuck Youth Services safe housing. She was a founding member of the Naugatuck Council of Churches’ Refugee Resettlement Committee. Linnea Behlman is remembered as a woman of strong faith, who loved her family and was dedicated to helping others. Arrangements - A Memorial service will be held 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at the Naugatuck United Methodist Church of Naugatuck, 208 Meadow Street. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family and there are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church of Naugatuck.
