Obituary of Richard Vincent Mackiewicz, Sr.

Richard Vincent “Dick” Mackiewicz, Sr., age 83, of Cheshire entered into rest on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury. He was the devoted husband of Ann “Nancy” (Meehan) Mackiewicz for over 62 years. Richard was born on December 23, 1931 in Waterbury, son of the late William and Antonina (Bobinska) Mackiewicz, and was a Cheshire resident for over 61 years. Richard was employed with Pratt & Whitney for over 30 years as a chemical engineer; after his retirement he continued to work as a pharmacist for the former Cheshire Pharmacy. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree from UConn, School of Pharmacy, with a minor in Chemistry. Dick routed for the Boston Red Sox and was an enormous UConn Women’s Basketball fan. Throughout his life he enjoyed skiing in Vermont at Okemo, golfing and had a passion for photography. He is the beloved father of Richard Vincent Mackiewicz, Jr. and his wife, Tina of Rock Hill, SC; Mark Anthony Mackiewicz of Rock Hill, SC; William Joseph Mackiewicz of Cheshire; and Marybeth Salvato and her husband, Robert of Milford. Richard is also survived by his loving grandchildren; Mark and Charlie Mackiewicz, Matthew Salvato, Ann-Marie Lisi and her husband, Christopher and Ashley Brown; cherished great granddaughters, Madelyn Ann Lisi and Isabella Mackiewicz; and his brother, John Mackiewicz of Albany, NY. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Shirley Mackiewicz. Friends and family are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Bridget Church, 175 Main Street, Cheshire, CT 06410, on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at 10AM. Richard’s interment will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery, Cheshire. There are no calling hours. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire has been entrusted with his arrangements.
