So sorry to hear of your loss.
I remember Mr. Nettleton very well and fondly, despite the many years that have past since we last were together, (he will always be Mr. Nettleton to me, no matter how old I become).
To me, he was my good and dear friend's father, but not only that, he is also remembered by me as a kind, happy, and generous man given to hospitality.
I clearly recall the time, so long ago that he invited my family to his house for dinner. Connecticut was a foreign land for a boy from Brooklyn, but we made the trip. It was worth it, as it was such a wonderful meal and time for fellowship. He and his family made it so.
I can also remember the time he welcomed me into his house for a few days one summer back in the late 1960's. It may even had been a week. I was a young boy - 10-11 years old at the time and could be rather unpredictable, so it was a risk on his part, but one I'm glad he took.
That summer, It was Mr. Nettleton, along with his family that took me to my first drive in movie - The Sound of Music! To this day, whenever I see that picture, I still smile and remember sitting in their car, reveling in the new experience. It is funny how the little things that people do, seemingly insignificant, or the way they treat you that stick in your very soul never to be forgotten.
George Nettleton, Mr. Nettleton, and his family, will always have a special place in my heart. I never forgot him over the years, and will never forget him. He was lovely, and most certainly will be missed by all who knew and were close to him .
Condolences to the family, and to George, Rest in Peace.
