Obituary of Helen Cluney

CHESHIRE- Mrs. Helen Dorothy (Carlin) Cluney, 92, a longtime Cheshire resident, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday July 24, 2012, at St. Mary's Hospital. She was the wife of the late John C. Cluney, who passed away in 1979 after 38 years of marriage. Mrs. Cluney was born in Waterbury, Sept. 7, `1919, a daughter of the late Henry and Margaret (Phelan) Carlin and was a graduate of Waterbury Catholic High School and St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing. She had been a lifelong Cheshire resident, spending several years as a resident of the Orchards in Southington. She was a communicant of St. Bridget Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Guild. She was a member of the St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Assoc. and had been an avid golfer and a former member of the Farms Country Club of Wallingford. For many years she was a volunteer for the American Red Cross helping with their Bloodmobiles. She leaves two sons, John H. Cluney and his wife, Christine of West Newbury, MA, and Carl G. Cluney and his wife Nicki of Southbury; 2 daughters, Susan J. Perrotti and her husband Richard of Cheshire and Christine M. Hoffmann and her husband James of Southbury; 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care Mrs. Cluney received while a resident of The Orchards in Southington and Apple Rehab. in Watertown. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday July 30, 2012 at 11 am at St. Bridget Church, 171 Main St. Cheshire. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in St. Bridget Cemetery. There are no calling hours. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to St. Bridget Church. The Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main St. is assisting the family with the arrangements
