Obituary of Charles Malis

CHESHIRE - Charles Malis, 95, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at his home in Cheshire. He was the husband of 72 years of marriage to the late Lillian (Barnes) Malis. Mr. Malis was born November 19, 1920 in New Haven, the son of the late Anthony Malis and Catherine (Gelagotis) (Malis) Karajanis and Kremasotis Karajanis. He was a WWII Navy Veteran serving on the U.S.S. Catskill in the South Pacific. He was employed at Pratt and Whitney retiring as a Supervisor in 1977. During his years in Cheshire, he was a 50 year member of Temple Lodge #16 A.F and A.M. Mr. Malis is survived by his children Sandy Malis of North Port, FL and Charles "Rich" Malis and his wife Olga Flanders of Meriden; his cherished grandchildren Donald J. Zegzdryn and his wife Brianna; Jeffrey A. Malis; Keith R. Malis and his wife Marie; Dennis Flanders and his wife Patty; his great-grandchildren Sean and his wife Shannon, Zachary and Matthew Sagendorf, Ashleigh Battle, Benjamin Zegzdryn, Allyssa, Nicholas, Zachary, Matthew, Christopher, Lianna, Kaileen, Scarlett, and Jackson Flanders; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife he was predeceased by his granddaughter Cheryl Ann Zegzdryn-Sagendorf; his seven sisters and three brothers. Arrangements – Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 1, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Cheshire, 111 Church Drive. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Cheshire Hillside Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S.
