Obituary of Guy Champagne

CHESHIRE- Mr. Guy Joseph Champagne, 75 of Cheshire, passed away on Friday July 27, 2012 at the Village Green of Waterbury. He was the husband of the late Shirley B. (St. Cyr) Champagne, who passed away in 2005 after 41 years of marriage. Mr. Champagne was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, April 9, 1937, a son of the late Antonio and Imelda (Aubin) Champagne and had been a resident of Cheshire for the past 38 years, moving here from Waterbury. He was educated in the Waterbury school system and was a graduate of Leavenworth High School. Prior. to his retirement in 1992, he was employed by Kmart, as Manager of their Automotive Dept. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force, serving two tours of duty concluding during the Vietnam era, where he was a Staff-Sargent. He was an avid New York Yankees fan. He was a communicant of St. Bridget Church in Cheshire. He leaves his children, a son, Steven A. Champagne of Plainville; two daughters, Donna M. Lilley of Cheshire, and Michelle L. Lis and her husband Justin of Middletown; one brother, Paul Champagne of Madison, Ind. and one sister, Theresa Champagne of Margate, Fl.; 4 grandchildren, Jessica Poetzsch and her husband Ryan and Christine and David Lilley and Rebecca Lis, and one great-grandaughter, Addison Poetzsch. He was predeceased by his siblings, Marcel Champagne, Rolande Mychaskiw and Noella Schoenbein. His funeral will be held on Monday July 30, 2012 at 12 noon from the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main St. and proceed to St. Bridget Church, 175 Main St. Cheshire for a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. Burial with full Military Honors will follow in Cheshire Hillside Cemetery, Wallingford Rd. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday July 30th, from 12 noon until the procession leaves for church. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make memorial contributions to the Disabled American Veterans of Conn., 35 Cold Spring Rd., Rocky Hill, 06067.
