Obituary of John J. DeVito
WATERBURY – John J. DeVito, 95, passed away Tuesday March 29, 2016 at the Cheshire House in Waterbury. He was the husband of the late Mary (Daversa) DeVito.
John was born February 1, 1921 in Waterbury, the son of the late Peter and Margaret (Roper) DeVito and was a lifelong Waterbury resident. He served his country during WWII as well as the Korean War in the U.S. Army. He was a longtime employee of Chase Brass and Copper Company.
John is survived by his sister Margaret Kelly and her husband Jack; his sister-in-law Teresa Miele and her husband Nick; his brother-in-law Peter Daversa; as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, John is predeceased by his sisters Mary Margaret DeVito and Emily Blasdale and his sister-in-law Ann Miele.
Arrangements – Funerals services will be held on Saturday April 2, 2016, 10:00 am from the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St. to Church of the Epiphany for Mass at 11 a.m. Burial with Military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Friends are invited to greet the family at the funeral home from 9:30 until the funeral procession leaves for church.
