Obituary of Marjorie Karsh

WOODBURY- Mrs. Marjorie Karsh of Woodbury, wife of the late Jamil Karsh, M.D., died on March 26, 2016. Marjorie was born in Jarvis, Ontario, Canada, in 1918, and grew up in St. Mary’s and Beaverton, Ontario. She was the daughter of the Reverend Arthur Wesley Ware, and Ethel May Oakes. She became a Registered Nurse after attending Nursing School at the Toronto General Hospital. She was one of the first flight attendants for Trans Canada Airlines in the early days of passenger air travel, a job that was very competitive to get and considered a great honor. She came to the United States in 1953 and married her husband, an Obstetrician, in New York in 1955. They moved to Waterbury and then to Middlebury, where they lived until Dr. Karsh’s passing in 2002. After that, she divided her time between Southbury and Woodbury, and Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Marjorie and her husband were members of the Country Club of Waterbury and enjoyed golfing there for many years. She was an avid bridge player, and enjoyed canoeing, travel, and in her younger days skiing. Mrs. Karsh was a member of the Congregational Church of Middlebury for many years, and later the First Presbyterian Church in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. She attended the United Church of Christ while in CT. She was a member of the Waterbury Medical Association Woman’s Auxiliary for many years. Mrs. Karsh was proud of her two sons and their individual talents, Allen and Steven, both of Golden, CO. She was predeceased by her husband Jamil, and her two sisters, Mildred and Dorothy. She leaves several nieces and nephews. Arrangements- A Memorial Service for Marjorie will be held 11 A.M Friday, April 1, 2016 at the United Church of Christ, 283 Main Street North, Southbury, CT 06488.
