Obituary of Phyllis Casertano-Tully

CHESHIRE – Phyllis “Aunt” Casertano-Tully, 79, passed away Monday, April 18, 2016 at Regency House of Wallingford. She was the beloved wife of the late John “Jack” Tully. Mrs.Casertano-Tully was born October 2, 1936 in Cheshire the daughter of the late Louis and Julia (DeGennaro) Casertano. She was a lifelong resident of Cheshire where she was a communicant of St. Bridget Church and a member of the first graduating class of Cheshire High School. Throughout her career, Phyllis worked as a banker and was eventually the bank manager for Union Trust. Phyllis was known for her elaborate cakes, cookies and pies that were often the centerpieces of family celebrations. She was skilled in ceramics and generously shared her artwork with her family and friends. A proud Italian-American, Phyllis maintained many of the traditions that allowed her family to learn about and enjoy their heritage. Always an animal lover, Phyllis will be missed by her loyal companion and dog, Trixie. She is survived her sister-in-law, Inez Casertano of Cheshire; her nieces, Julie Casertano of Wethersfield and Teresa Casertano of Maryland; her nephews, John L. Casertano of Cheshire and William N. Casertano of Old Saybrook; as well as many great nieces and nephews. Arrangements – Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016, 10:45 from the Alderson-Ford Funeral home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St., to St. Bridget Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Southington. Visitation will be held on Saturday morning from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
