Obituary of Victoria C. Tammone

Victoria ‘Vickie’ Tammone, 94, beloved wife of the late William J. Tammone, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2016, within the gentle care of Hospice at Masonicare of Wallingford, Ct. Vickie is survived by her daughter, Loretta (Thomas) Molnar of Cheshire, Ct.; sons William (Linda) Tammone of Lindenhurst, NY.; Richard (Mollie) Tammone of San Diego, Ca.; 5 grandchildren and spouses, 7 great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. Victoria, one of six children, and daughter of Italian immigrants, Catherine and Salvatore Sciotto, was born in Rutherford, N.J. Vickie and Bill married in 1942, and the couple lived in Astoria, NY. After 4 years, they moved to Lindenhurst, NY. It was in Lindenhurst, that many other family members took residence, and the warmth of Italian family surrounded Vickie until she turned 88. She and Bill then became residents of Wallingford, Ct. due to services available at the Masonic Health Care family. Vickie had many loving and strong personality traits. She would tell you that praying the rosary to the Virgin Mary for family and friends daily, sometimes hourly, gave her inner peace. She was available to family at any sign that help was needed. ‘Family first’ … her bottom line. Throughout her life, she worked part time in the garment industry, belonged to The American Cancer Society helping with fund-raisers, and volunteered in a Headstart Program that enriched the lives of underprivileged pre-school children. For many years, she participated in a prayer group originating from her parish, Our Lady of Perpetual Help R.C. Church, Lindenhurst, NY. She will be remembered as an endearing Mother and wife, welcoming those who entered her door, willing to listen, laugh and converse in the ‘Italian way”. Arrangements – On June 3, 2016, a Mass at 11:00 am will be held at St. Bridget’s R.C. Church in Cheshire, Ct. Burial of William and Victoria’s ashes will follow at Cheshire Hillside Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Mrs. Tammone’s name may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association, 2075 Silas Dean Hwy., Suite 100, Rocky Hill, Ct.
