Obituary of Marcia J. Robbie
Cheshire – Marcia J. Robbie, 86, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2016 at The Connecticut Hospice in Branford. She was a resident of Cheshire since 1956 and most recently resided at Elim Park Place. She was the wife of the late Alexander B. Robbie.
Mrs. Robbie was born December 9, 1929 in New Haven, a daughter of the late William and Stephanie (Marcinek) Walsh. Marcia was a retired elementary school teacher. She spent her entire 35+ year teaching career at Doolittle School in Cheshire, educating several generations of young students in the first and third grades. After retiring from full time teaching she substituted for many years in the Cheshire school system. Marcia graduated from Lauralton Hall in Milford, CT., the University of Connecticut and obtained her masters degree from Southern Connecticut State College with additional educational certificates from Central Connecticut State University and the University of Saint Joseph.
She attended Saint Bridget Church and Saint Thomas Beckett Church in Cheshire. Marcia was a lifetime member of the Connecticut Education Association and the National Education Association. She also was a member of the Cheshire Women’s Club and numerous local bridge clubs. In the past she was involved in the Elim Park Place Garden Club, the library at Elim Park Place, and the Lock 12 Canal Foundation.
Marcia is survived by her son, William A. Robbie, and his wife Susan (Cross) of Braselton, Ga. and her daughter, Elizabeth Drechnowicz, and her husband, Michael of North Kingstown, R.I. Her daughter, Valerie Fagan of Middletown, R.I, predeceased her. Her brother, Marc Walsh and her sisters, Sally O’Hara and Barbara Fox, also survive her. Her grandchildren, Jennifer Robbie, Michaela Ryan, Kara Fagan, Kristen Fagan and Jessica Fagan as well as four great-grandchildren will also miss Marcia.
Arrangements- Per Mrs. Robbie request, there will not be any funeral services or memorials. There are no calling hours. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home 615 South Main Street, Cheshire, is in charge of all other arrangements.
