Obituary of Alice M. Rodgers

MERIDEN - Alice Rodgers, 88, formerly of Cheshire, passed away Friday, October 7, 2016 at her home. She was the wife of the late James J. Rodgers. Mrs. Rodgers was born August 10, 1928 in Prospect, the daughter of the late Salvatore and Levina (Hayes) Cocchiola. During her many years in Cheshire, she was a communicant of Church of the Epiphany where she served on the Ladies Guild. She gave back to the community through her activism in the Lions Club as well as designing Town of Cheshire Christmas tree ornaments through the church to raise money for charity. She was a lifelong artist who loved to paint landscapes. She is survived by her son Timothy Rodgers of Cheshire; her daughters Beverly Arisco and her husband Alex of Cheshire, Virginia Stevenson and her husband Ross of New York, and Nancy Hourigan and her husband Dale of Wallingford; her grandchildren Reginald Stevenson, Danny and Jimmy Arisco, Kailyn & Bridget Rodgers, and Rachel and Connor Hourigan; her sister Chicky Mantiglia of NC; her nieces and nephew Cindy, Beth, Ray and Allison. She was predeceased by her son, James “Jon” Rodgers as well as her grandson, Joey Stevenson. Arrangements – Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2016, 10:15 a.m. from the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St. to Church Of The Epiphany, for a Mass at11 a.m. Burial will follow in Cheshire Hillside Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 5 - 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
