Obituary of James Brilliant

James Brilliant of Waterbury, age 89, entered into rest on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Wolcott View Manor. He was the devoted husband of the late Doris (Mailloux) Brilliant for over 43 years. James was born on July 11, 1927 in Fall River, MA, son of the late Frank and Laurinda (Raposa) Brilliant, and was a Waterbury resident for over 60 years. James served his country with honor and pride during WWII with the US Navy, and worked for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for over 40 years. He retired as Quality Control Supervisor. He enjoyed golf, travel and the occasional casino trip. James will be missed by his son Keith Brilliant and his wife, Rosanne of Waterbury; son Francis Brilliant and his wife, Teresa of Pittsfield, MA; and daughter Lynne Gannon and her husband, Joseph of Waterbury. James is also survived by his six grandchildren, Jeremy, Mark, Erin, Jamie, Josh, and Jacob; he embraced being “GGF” to his 4 cherished great-grandchildren Andrew, Thomas, Esther, and Oliver. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Manso. His family wishes to thank the staff at Wolcott View Manor and Seasons Hospice, as well as Yanedit DeJesus and Debra Harris, for helping to care for Dad. Friends may greet James’ family on Thursday, November 17, 2016 from 9AM until 10:15AM at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Waterbury, 9 Holmes Ave., Waterbury. His funeral procession will then leave the funeral home for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11AM in St. Michael Church, 62 St. Michael Drive, Waterbury. Following Mass, Military Honors will be accorded. Burial will be on November 19th at 11 am at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Fall River, MA . At the request of his family, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 825 Brook St., I-91 Tech Ctr., Rocky Hill, CT 06067-3045.
