Obituary of Henry J. LaTorraca
CHESHIRE – Henry J. LaTorraca, 57, passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 unexpectedly at his home.
Henry was born March 20, 1959 in New Haven, the son of the late Henry V. and Mary (Catania) LaTorraca. Henry is survived by his sisters Ann Destito and her husband Pat of Hamden and their children Jeremy, Blair, and Lauren; Linda Kautzner and her husband Gabor of Hamden and their children Kesta and Stacia; and a brother Richard LaTorraca of Cheshire.
Henry was a loving husband to his wife of 28 years, Karen (Petrillo), and a devoted father to his son Nicholas. Henry was charming and funny with a smile that could light up a room. He would always be there to help and lend a hand to whomever might ask. After the death of Nicholas in 2010 to cancer, he and Karen became actively involved with the charities that supported the family during and after Nicholas’ illness. He was a communicant of St. Bridget Church, volunteering at both the church and school as often as he could.
Henry was a lifelong Teamster, belonging to both Local 677 and 443 during his almost 40 year career as a tractor-trailer driver. He was most recently employed with New Penn Motor Express in Southington.
Memorial contributions may be made to Why Me, 1152 Pleasant St., Worcester, MA 01602, an organization that provided Henry and his wife with bereavement support as parents who had lost a child to cancer. He was actively involved in donating his time to help them and was appreciative of the support they provided to him.
