Obituary of Wayne Sumner Hill
Wayne Sumner Hill, age 74, of Cheshire entered into rest on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at the Alzheimer’s Resource Center in Southington, where he was a resident for several years. He was the devoted husband of Judith Norton Hill for over 52 years. Wayne was born on May 17, 1942 in Meriden, son of the late George Sumner and May Thompson Hill.
Wayne was raised in Wallingford and graduated from Lyman Hall High School. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry at Norwich University in Northfield, VT and a Master's degree in Engineering at The University of New Haven. He served his country with honor and pride with the US Army during the Vietnam War, and was also a Mason. Wayne's most recent employment was as a manufacturing engineer for O.Z. Gedney Co. in Terryville.
He is the beloved father of Susan Norton Fay and her husband, Joe of Madison; Stephen Sumner Hill and his wife, Anne of Tolland and David Wayne Hill and his fiancée, Lisa Coneita of Waterbury. He is the loving grandfather of Jake, Kelly and Alanna Fay; Coleman and Noah Hill and Brittany and Connor Hill; and is also survived by his sister, Jacqueline H. Phyfe of Old Saybrook and his niece and nephews.
Mr. Hill’s family would like to thank the entire staff at the Alzheimer’s Resource Center for the care and love they provided. They displayed respect, sensitivity and humor to make him feel a part of the 2A community.
Arrangements - A private funeral service for Mr. Hill will be held at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St., 06410. Interment will follow in Cheshire Hillside Cemetery, Wallingford Rd. At the request of his family, memorial contributions may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association, CT Chapter, P.O.
