I had the pleasure of working with you, Tina, Marje and Neal at Cheshire Management many years ago. My heartfelt condolences to you and your family on the loss of your son, Stephen. Stephen and my daughter, Megan, became instant friends during kindergarten and remained friends until we moved to New York in fourth grade. They were Facebook friends and continued to remain friends throughout high school and college. Stephen was part of my CCD class with Carol Toscani, who called me on Friday night to share the sad news with me, and brought us many found memories with his smile, laughter and genuine kind spirit. We talked about Stephen in length with heavy, but warm hearts of the wonderful son you raised. I grew up in Vermont and my parents and siblings went to Champlain College. I enjoyed seeing his experiences at Champlain, his contagious smile and enthusiasm of a college student. There are no words that I can offer to ease your difficult days and huge hole in your heart, but know that I am thinking of you, praying for you and sending your heartfelt hugs from Indianapolis. Although a Colts fan, I have remained a faithful Patriots fan and have taken a licking numerous times while sporting by New England routes and public cheering for the Patriots! I know Stephen will be cheering loudly on SuperBowl Sunday! Please let me know if I can do anything to assist you during this time. From one of my favorite songs, "And He will raise you up on eagles' wings, Bear you on the breathe of dawn, Make you to shine like the sun, And hold you in the palm of His hand." My heart breaks over Stephen's passing. A life taken way too young. I had the pleasure of having him in my English classes for two years at CHS. He was always a vibrant young man w/ and unceasing smile. He was introspective and kind; I learned a lot from him and I will carry my memories of him with me. To Stephen's family,
I am deeply sorry for your loss. Stephen was a nice young man I met at Champlain in 2015 when I transferred. We did not talk much on a personal level, but it was always social. We always said hello and shook hands and talked about sports and the gym from time to time. It hurt to find out the information about what happen to Stephen. One thing I wanted to let you know is he will always be with you in spirit. He loves all of you and life is like a painting it has a thousand words and as for Stephen He shared his portrait of all his care,love and fighting spirit for 21 years and now he is free. Stephen's short life leaves us all feeling inspired by continual acts of goodness, caring about others, nurturing the people around him, listening to people, encouraging others, and the list of all that can be good in a person is what you could find in this young man. No one could have been loved any more than Stephen and you can read this in every post from a friend, see it in his video clips, feel it in his smile....and I scarcely saw him. So my heart breaks for those who had the good fortune to be near him and live his life with him....though my brain tells me how fortunate they all were---So to them I would say "I Hope You Dance. I Hope You Dance" with a smile remembering his loving, fun-filled kindness.... And how lucky you were to share your days with Stephen. I miss his Mom all the time. And to Stephen, I remember your ear-to-ear grin running to your Dad from my car at age 5 saying "Daddy! Daddy! Mrs Welch says I have Mommy's eyes!" But you had so much more of her too Stephen and knowing you are together is the only way to embrace this loss. Her eyes Stephen and you have her sweet, thoughtful, gentle and giving heart. I shall no doubt see you again Stephen. Xoxoxoox. Your Dad did a great job with you!
