Obituary of Jacquelyn L. Crosby

WATERBURY – Jacquelyn L. Crosby 66, passed away Monday February 20, 2017 at Waterbury Hospital. Jacqui born February 20, 1951 in Watertown, NY, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Keitha (Mason) Frazier. Jacqui was a delightful person known for her humorous and kind personality. She strongly believed in laughter as a healing tool. She found much joy in her pet Cosmo, her Papillon dog, and her cats Samantha, Philander, Tigger and Spooky. In 1985, Jacqui received her Bachelor’s degree from Southern Connecticut State University and continued on to receive her Master’s degree in Special education from Central Connecticut State University. Her first teaching job was working for the state of CT at Southbury Training School with severe and profound multi-handicapped children. Later she transferred to the Waterbury School System. There she moved often with her class to meet their needs. During her later teaching years, Jacqui had two bouts with cancer, breast and uterine, but she was a survivor and was cancer free. This all led to an early disability retirement. Jacqui could sit still so she became a senior companion with NOW Inc. There she met and maintained a loving relationship with some of the clients. While at her time at NOW, Jacqui fell and broke her hip and fractured her ribs. Her health worsened and her diabetes acted up causing serious complications. Based on these conditions Jacqui resided in several rehabilitation facilities most recently being at Paradigm Health Center of Waterbury. Jacqui is survived by her son Benjamin Crosby and his wife Karen of Waterbury; her sisters Betty Lawton and her husband David of Lafargeville, NY, and Marge Westbrook and her husband Wayne of Newburn, NC; two close female friends who she considered sisters Lyn Mesenis and Lu Reschar; as well as her male friends Philip Cowit and her former husband Kenneth Crosby; and many other dear friends and relatives all over the country. Jacqui’s world was filled with a lot of love surrounding her. Her last message to everyone is…I LOVE YOU GUYS! Arrangements – A gathering will be held on Saturday February 25, 2017 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home Waterbury, 9 Holmes. Burial and services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contribution may be made to NOW, Inc. 232 North Elm St., Waterbury, CT 06702 or St. Vincent DePaul, 34 Willow St. Waterbury, CT 06710.
