Obituary of Daniel E. Bassett

CHESHIRE – Daniel E. Bassett, 70, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 16, 2017 at his home in Cheshire, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Pamela (Johnson) Bassett. Dan was born October 4, 1946 in New York City, son of the late Frederick and Marie (Grant) Bassett. Dan graduated from Amity Regional High School in 1965 and was a 1969 graduate of Denver University. He and his wife Pam moved to Cheshire from Denver Colorado with their two daughters in 1976 and was a resident of Cheshire for 41 years. Dan had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to make you laugh. He had grown to know so many great people living in Cheshire. He was a retired salesman who spent 30 plus years in the manufacturing/industrial sales industry field doing what he did best. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. He was also a past member of the Hamden and Wallingford Elks Lodge. Dan is survived by his two daughters, Heidi Bassett of Cheshire and Heather Dixon and her husband Steven, of North Haven, and his brothers, Thomas J. Bassett of Holmes, New York and James P. Bassett of Branford and a lifelong friend who will always be considered part of the family, Jack Bovee. He will also be missed by his grandchildren, Daniel, Mitchell, Dyllon, Shawn and Jayden. Especially the youngest, Jayden, who was so fortunate to have been able to meet his Papa. Jayden put a sparkle in his eye and a smile on his face no matter what. Arrangements – Friends may greet Dan’s family at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main St., on Thursday, March 23, 2017 from 5:00-7:00 pm. A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 24, 2017 at 11:00 am at the funeral home.
