Obituary of Mary Agnes Reilly

NAUGATUCK – Mary Agnes (Reilly) Reilly, 99, passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at Beacon Brook Health Center in Naugatuck. She was the widow of Dr. Walter J. Reilly. Mary Agnes was born in Waterbury on February 11, 1918, the daughter of John B. and Alice (Kelly) Reilly. A lifelong resident of Naugatuck, she graduated from Saint Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1939, and worked as a Registered Nurse for over 40 years, retiring in 1986. Mrs. Reilly was a communicant of Saint Francis of Assisi Church and was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians; Saint Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association and the New England Catholic Nurses Association. She is survived by her son W. Burke Reilly and his wife Maryann; granddaughters Laura Reilly and Ellen Chatfield and her husband Michael; by great grandchildren Meghan Messier and Jonathan, Leah and Maya Chatfield, all of Naugatuck. In addition to her husband, Mary Agnes was predeceased by her four brothers Joseph, John, James and William Reilly. She is also survived by their children, dearly loved nieces and nephews. The family extends its heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Beacon Brook Health Center for the compassionate care shown to Mary Agnes in her final years. Arrangements – Funeral services for Mrs. Reilly will be held Monday, April 17, 2017 from the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St., to Saint Francis of Assisi Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Saint James Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday morning at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until procession leaves for church.
