Obituary of Arline Duley
SIMSBURY, CT - Arline (Benson) Duley, formerly of Waterbury, died peacefully at the McLean Health Center on Friday Sept. 28, 2012.
Mrs. Duley was born March 7, 1925 in Thomaston the daughter of the late Martha (Bell) (Benson) Thompson and James Benson. Arline enjoyed her career as a banker in Waterbury beginning at the olld Waterbury National Bank and retiring for health reasons as an Assistant Vice-President at Mattatuck Bank. She was actively involved in the American Institute of Banking, the Quota Club, the Downtown Business Association, the Chamber of Commerce, St. Mary's Hospital Volunteer Program, and several other civic organizations.
Upon moving to Simsbury around 1994, she volunteered at the McLean Health Center and participated actively in life at the Village. While family was at the center of Arline's life, she thoroughly enjoyed her pets as well as the various woodland animals that visited her yard. Life at McLean was deeply enhanced by the kindness of numerous friends, especially her next door neighbor, Lois Comstock.
Arline's family wishes to sincerely thank the outstanding staff at the McLean Health Center for the loving care that she, her brother James, and her entire family experienced at this very special community.
Arline is survived by her sister Gladys Cole; her niece Sandra Banik; her nephews Jeffrey Cole and George Duley, all of Waterbury; her nephews Gerald Cole and Thomas Cole and wife Marie all of South Carolina; her niece Kathleen Plourde of Simsbury as well as several cousins and grand-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother James Benson.
Arrangements - Friends are invited to pay their respects to the family prior to the funeral on Tuesday morning October 2, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. at the Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury, 9 Holmes Ave. Funeral services will follow at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery in Thomaston. In lieu of flowers, friends may donate to the Simsbury Volunteer Ambulance P.O.
