Obituary of Robert Richardson
WATERTOWN - Robert H. Richardson died peacefully at home with his family at his side on Tuesday, May 30, 2017.
Born on November 17, 1928 to the late Lydia and Oscar Richardson of Naugatuck, Robert is survived by his wife Edith Beres Richardson and his daughter Nancy McKernon and her husband Mac, his grandchildren Jacob Robert and Alexandra.
He graduated from Naugatuck High School and the University of Connecticut with a BS degree in finance. He was a member of the Hillside Covenant Church in Naugatuck and later First Congregational Church of Watertown. He served with the U.S. Fifth Army Finance Corp during the Korean Conflict. He designed and built a drapery hook packaging machine and sold it to the Kirsch Company. He owned and operated a tool supply company in Waterbury and South Carolina until his retirement. He was an avid golfer and a long-time member of the Waterbury Country Club; Shepherd - Salem Lodge #78 A.F. & A.M. in Naugatuck; The Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Waterbury; Lafayette Consistory 32ndDegree, Valley of Bridgeport; a member of the Shrine; served on the board of the directors of Watertown Hospice and was an avid fan of UConn Women’s basketball.
Arrangements – Funeral service and burial will be held at the convenience of the family and there are no calling hours. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
