I am so sorry for your loss and thank-you for your courage in printing the truth, my brother died in what seems like the first wave of this epidemic in 2013 and we printed no details even as the town lies about the way the report the deaths. He was an EMT and I'm sure your Ryan was just as proud of his firefighter uniform of Jake was of his. There are no words to bring you comfort and yet you have tried to reach out to others to help them- thank-you and God bless.

I am so very sorry to hear about Ryan and the terrible loss for all his family and friends. I remember Ryan as a teenager, smiling with his friends and classmates.AHyF2 I commend the bravery of his family and the message they send to anyone struggling with addiction. Ryan we were never close or hung out outside of high school. You had your friends and I had mine. But what I do know is you were the type of person who could light up a room by walking into it. Your smile alone would brighten someone's day. You friend requested me Saturday morning and we talked for a little. I will hold our conversation close with me forever. You were a bright young man. My Uncle Rick knew you from the fire department and talked about you. Always making everyone laugh and smile. That's the Ryan I'll always remember. You're not struggling anymore and you're safe. No one or nothing can ever hurt you. So keep smiling I know when the sun shines bright that's your way of brightening up the world. Something you were always good at. Rest In Peace Ryan ❤️

My deepest condolences to your family and all who loved Ryan. As you know my husband and I suffered the same horrible fate 1/27/17. Andrew Oswald lll is now forever 23. I truly know your pain and reach out to you mom to mom to give you any and all support I can. I have learned through my grief group (GRASP) that the common denominator amongst our beautiful children is their kindness, caring, giving, loving , funny, wonderful souls all touched so many. For that, we must be greatful. I am praying for Ryan and all of you who are suffering from his loss. I wish I could say it gets easier. My heart is full of love for this sweet young man and the terrible struggle he endured. He obviously is greatly loved by his family and friends and although I don't know Ryan, I am also his friend. Thank you to his family for the courage and honesty to address the real reason for his death. It is time for us all to openly face the epidemic that is taking so many of our children! Young people experiment and are in serious addiction very shortly from these serious drugs! Almost all of us have a person close to us with a problem, whether hidden or not. It is heartbreaking! We must face this as a nation and open the conversation without shame!
My admiration for you is beyond words! May the peace of God, beyond all understanding, keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Bless you!

To Ryan's Parents and Family: I too lost my son to drugs 23 years ago. He was my first born, extremely bright, talented, owned his own business, had a wonderful wife and two sons. His cause of death was spoken about in whispers--never aloud or acknowledged. I am so sorry you lost your son, but am glad that you are able to confront the problem like you are.
