Obituary of Stephen Stroker Bates

Stephen Stroker Bates, age 64, of Stamford and formerly of Cheshire entered into rest on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 after a long illness.  He was born on April 18, 1953 in Waterbury, son of the late James Albert and Mary Ellen (Stroker) Bates, and has been a Stamford resident since 2009.

Stephen was raised in Cheshire, he attended Notre Dame in West Haven and earned his Bachelor’s degree from Keene State University.  He was previously employed with Hamden Housing Authority, Jewish Family and the Department of Social Services.

He is the beloved brother of Bill Bates of Malvern, PA; Thomas Bates of Westmoreland, NH; Richard Bates of Nevada and Mary Anne Mills of Forest, VA; and also leaves behind 11 nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on October 6, 2017 at 10:30AM in St. Thomas Becket Church, 435 No. Brooksvale Rd., Cheshire.  Burial will follow at St. Bridget Cemetery, Cheshire.
