Obituary of Andrew F. Maddaloni
Cheshire – Andrew F. Maddaloni, 84, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 8, 2017, surrounded by his wife and daughter, at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was the husband of Mary Lou (Carrington) Maddaloni for 55 years.
Mr. Maddaloni was born on August 24, 1932 in Waterbury, a son of the late Vincent and Concetta (DiMaio) Maddaloni. Andy was a Korean War veteran who returned to the U.S. and worked at the Garden Spot in Cheshire as a meat cutter, a profession he maintained in various grocery stores despite a chronic illness, until full retirement age. Andy was a shining example of fortitude, perseverance and love of family.
After retirement, Mary and Andy took care of their grandson daily, putting their plans secondary. Andy was an accomplished woodworker, spending hours in his workshop, making gifts for his wife and friends. He also donated many toy trucks and cars to children's hospitals.
A devoted catholic, Andy attended the Church of the Epiphany and St. Bridget's Church. In later years, he watched mass daily on television with his wife.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Maddaloni is survived by his daughter, Maryalyce Bell and her husband, Ron, of Wolcott. He will also be missed by his grandchildren, Thomas Trevethan Jr. and Sarah Bell, as well as his sister Dorothy Kumkowski and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Maddaloni was predeceased by his brother, Vincent Maddaloni Jr.
Arrangements – A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 11, 2017 at St. Bridget Church, 175 Main St., Cheshire. Burial will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery. Friends may call at The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home, 615 South Main St., Cheshire, Friday morning, from 9:30 a.m. until departure.
