Obituary of Theresa B. Canas
Theresa B. Canas, 82, passed peacefully into eternal life on Thursday, August 3, 2017, at the Village at East Farms in Waterbury. She had recently moved from Cheshire, the town she loved and raised her family for over 50 years; but now considered the Village her home with her love of all the staff and residents there.
Theresa was born on March 3, 1935 in Burlington, VT. She was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Delphene (Seguin) Bousquet. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as Executive Secretary for the President of Quinnipiac College (University) and had also worked in admissions office at Cheshire Academy. Along her career path, she had received her real estate license, and enjoyed taking many classes at Quinnipiac College.
Terri’s life was rich with many interests and, through it all, she always kept her sense of humor. She travelled through China, and throughout Europe with the Quinnipiac Liberal Arts Department, with her Lion’s Club to Thailand, and around the United States.
Terri had been a devoted Lion. She was past president of the Cheshire Lion’s Club; she enjoyed participating in the Dinner Dance for the Blind, and one could find her selling flowers at the annual Lion’s Club Easter fundraiser. In her early years, she was president of the Cheshire Juniors Women’s Club, active in her children’s PTA’s, and the Girl Scouts.
Besides her love of travel, Terri loved to read, paint, crochet and knit, but most of all, loved to socialize and meet new people. Prior to her death, she had already completed baby blankets for her expected great grand twins as she had made for all her grandchildren. Most important in her life, she would say her greatest accomplishment was her children. She was very proud of their achievements and that they had given her nine terrific grandchildren, one great grandson, with twin great granddaughters expected this fall. Terri loved her large extended family and lifetime friends that she considered family.
Terri leaves behind her daughters, Lisa, Lorrie, Leslie, and her son Joseph, a devoted son-in-law, Bruce, her grandchildren, Spencer, Taylor, Kyle, Erin, Guy, Valerie, Amanda, Courtney, and Lindsey, and great grandson, Lowell. She also leaves her sister, Lucille Biondi, her sisters-in-law, Dorothy Canas, and Josephine Cash, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister, Doris Longest.
Respecting our mom’s wishes, services and burial were held privately. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made, in her name, to The Friends of Feral Cheshire Cats.
